Sand Castle
Systems, Inc. offers a complete line of
portable AppleTalk ® technology --
protocol stack, router, Apple ® Remote
Access (ARA) server, AppleShare ® file
server, and PostScript ® print server.
The code base was originally developed
by Pacer Software, Inc. and has now
migratred, with the original developers,
to Sand Castle Systems, Inc. Sand
Castle's technology has been licensed to
numerous vendors and has been
successfully ported into many
environments. The source code is written
in ANSI C, is fully modular, and has
been designed for ease-of-porting. The
disparate hardware and operating
environments that have hosted Sand
Castle's portable AppleTalk technology
include CISC, RISC, big-endian,
little-endian, time-shared, real-time,
single-threaded, multi-threaded,
single-processor, and multi-processor.
Promoting
AppleTalk
UNIX system
vendors, router vendors, printer and
print server manufacturers, developers
of specialized network hardware, and
application companies all have a vital
need to incorporate AppleTalk support
into their products. By providing
portable AppleTalk technology, Sand
Castle is offering these vendors easy
entry into the burgeoning AppleTalk
services market.
The
AppleTalk Standard
Sand
Castle's portable AppleTalk stack,
router, and AppleShare file and print
services are implementations of Apple
Computer's AppleTalk Phase 2
communication protocols. Sand Castle's
AppleTalk technology complies with the
AppleTalk protocols as defined by Inside
AppleTalk, Second Edition ©1990 by
Gursharan S. Sidhu, Richard F. Andrews
and Alan B. Oppenheimer. Sand Castle's
AppleShare implementation has been
validated by both Apple's AppleTalk
Validation Suite (AVS) and Low Level
Protocol Tester (LLPT). Sand Castle's
ARA server is a portable implementation
of the AppleTalk Remote Access Protocol
as defined by the Apple Remote Access
Protocol External Reference
Specification document (versions 1.0 and
2.0).
